The postdoc project focuses on the combination of geophysical methods (ERT, induced polarization, self potential, EM low frequency, and GPR) and hydrogeological techniques (e.g., pumping, tracing and slug tests) for imaging the spatial heterogeneities of hydraulic and electric properties of a contaminated aquifer, and for monitoring the remediation processes.
The hydrogeological and geophysical investigations will be conducted on an experimental site which contains more than 20 boreholes distributed within a small area (80 m × 80 m).  The project includes theoretical, experimental, and numerical aspects which aim to perform multi-disciplinary investigations, such as: inspecting the electrical and hydraulic properties of porous mediums from the scale of core plugs to the aquifer scale; signal processing; numerical modelling; and inverse problem to interpret the collected hydraulic and geophysical datasets. The project will be performed in collaboration with industrial partners VALGO and GINGER-BURGEAP. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in the supervision of Master and PhD students.

Required Qualifications:

PhD in geophysics/ physics/ hydrogeology / or applied mathematics. The applicants must have a solid background in applied mathematics, computation and inverse modelling.
