Promotion of young academics is a particular concern of Geoverbund ABC/J, and we are highly committed to improving the education of students. The ABC/J region offers a broad range of geoscientific studies with more than 11 bachelor and 14 master courses. Currently, Geoverbund ABC/J encompasses the education of more than 7,500 geoscience students.
The diversity and complementarity of the range of courses provided under the umbrella of Geoverbund ABC/J offers many opportunities for the students´ individual profile formation.
The students in the ABC/J region also benefit from reduced administrative barriers and are enabled to switch between the cooperating institutes without being charged additional study fees. The cross-site recognition of credit points is thereby contractually guaranteed. The master course Master of Disaster Management and Risk Governance (KaVoMa) provides further professional training.
Events such as job and internship fairs are supported and financially funded by Geoverbund ABC/J. Additionally, we support our graduates by providing an ABC/J job network. This virtual platform informs students about potential bachelor and master thesis topics, job positions and internships to assist the start of their careers. Furthermore, the GeoExpert Network (GEN) helps to find the right people to contact regarding their individual scientific interests. The ABC/J-excursion guides students through exciting regions of our earth dealing with highly topical geoscientific research questions. Stipends will be granted by Geoverbund ABC/J for highly motivated Master and PhD students to attend the excursion.
The students of Geoverbund ABC/J are directly involved in all current processes over their student representatives in the steering group.
