Centre for High-Performance Scientific Computing in Terrestrial Systems
ABC/J Competence Centre
Through the HPSC TerrSys, Geoverbund ABC/J offers direct access to the high-performance supercomputers of Forschungszentrum Jülich. This centre was founded by Geoverbund ABC/J in 2011. Together with the associated Simulation and Data Laboratory (SimDataLab TerrSys) and in close cooperation with the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC), HPSC TerrSys provides the geoscientists of the ABC/J region with scientific and technical support for their research activities by means of its supercomputers.

A particular strength of the HPSC TerrSys is its ability to efficiently develop parallel codes and apply them across scales, as well as to convert geoscientific observational data into integrated simulations using data assimilation. The necessary basic data is largely collected by the members of the Geoverbund ABC/J themselves. With this approach, HPSC TerrSys with its research is currently one of the world's leading institutions of its kind.
