The geodesy platform comprises a unique set of space-geodetic, remote sensing and satellite-derived data sets and methods. The focus is on utilizing space techniques for monitoring processes such as continental-scale groundwater changes, glacier and ice sheet imbalance, planetary deformation, sea level change, and land surface change.
The geodesy platform participates in the realization of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame ITRF and, as one of the members of the FESG consortium, participates in the data processing of Germany’s Space-Geodetic Observatory Wettzell. They contribute to the services of the International Association of Geodesy IAG and participate in international services and science/ satellite mission teams such as ESA’s CCI, GRACE, GRACE-FO, OSTST, Cryosat-2, Sentinel-3 cal/val or WCRP GSLB. These activities are complemented through terrestrial geodetic and remote sensing techniques such as GNSS and gravimetric equipment, including robotic sensing systems.
