Retrospect Geoverbund ABC/J Summer Party 2022 in Bonn & Presentation of the Geoverbund ABC/J Research Awards 2022
A festive day by sunshine!

On June 03, 2022, the Summer Festival of the Geoverbund ABC/J finally took place again in beautiful weather. With broad participation of nearly 170 members and guests from the ABC/J sites, a festive afternoon and convivial evening could be spent together at the Geozentrum of the University of Bonn.
At 2 p.m., this year's General Assembly of Geoverbund ABC/J took place with the Annual Report 2021 by the Scientific Director Prof. Dr. Wellmann and the associated contributions of the ABC/J Competence Centers.
After a short coffee break in the courtyard of the Geozentrum, Asc. Prof. Dr. Ioannis Papanikolaou from the Agricultural University of Athens opened the formal part of the afternoon with his exciting Keynote Lecture on "Natural Hazards, Catastrophe Modeling and Geosciences: New Tools and New Challenges".
Another highlight was the presentation of the Geoverbund ABC/J Young Academics Award 2022. This year, four young scientists from RWTH Aachen University and the University of Cologne were awarded for their outstanding, innovative and interdisciplinary research in the field of geosciences. The laudations by our deputy scientific director PD Dr. Trömel were followed by the respective course presentations of the four research award winners Dr. Paromita Deb (RWTH Aachen University | 1st prize), Dr. Simone Lechthaler (RWTH Aachen University | 2nd prize) and Dr. Piero Bellanova (RWTH Aachen University | 3rd prize) as well as Dr. Johannes Heuzeroth (University of Cologne | special prize). We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate once again this year's research award winners!
Finally, the social part of the Summer Party took place in the courtyard of the Geozentrum. Thereby, the ABC/J members could finally exchange and network with each other again while enjoying delicious barbecue, cool drinks and relaxing live music! The Pictures of the Day are online: here!
